About the Altar Servers

The Altars servers  occupies a privileged place in the liturgical celebration. He who serves at Mass presents himself to a community. He experiences first hand that Jesus Christ is present and active in every liturgical act”. – Pope John Paul II.

The Ministry of the Altar Servers (MAS) at St. Anne’s Church aims to empower its servers to help serve the Lord actively and reverently and to aid them in growing spirituality in Christ. Aside from the Priests, the Altar Servers are the closest to Jesus Christ during the missal service, and thus, get to fully experience a greater joy during the liturgical celebration.

Commitment to the service of God
Humility in all that we say and do
Reverence to the Holy Trinity
Integrity uncompromising in truth
Steadfastness unwavering in Spirit
Togetherness a holy brotherhood
Our Patron Saint is Saint John Berchmans, who was a committed and faithful server. As Altar Servers, we are required to serve weekend mass and weekday mass once a week. We also serve during wedding masses / services, funerals and holy hour worship services. Being Altar Servers enable us to be familiar with various masses and to understand certain Church traditions and practices. Prayers are recited and after mass to allow all Altar Servers to focus on serving God. They hold bi-weekly meetings, where servers are informed of their duties and rosters, and other major announcements and events. There are frequent training sessions for new servers or servers preparing for a special mass, allowing them to foster a greater sense of responsibility. More importantly, there are spiritual session such as praise and worship to help the servers get closer to God spiritually. The MAS also organise games, activities and camps to foster strong bonds of brotherhood in the ministry.
